Measles?

DD is two. She had chicken pox about 6 months ago. A rash started appearing on her face yesterday, sent home from nursery as they thought it was chicken pox.

I know it's possible to get chicken pox twice, but the rash is following the pattern of measles - starting on her face and moving onto torso - and looks like measles rather than chicken pox. She had the first MMR dose when she was one, but obviously isn't old enough for the second.
She's also had some of the other symptoms listed on the NHS site.

Has anyone had measles after having one jab? Am I just being paranoid? The NHS site says to see the GP, but they're still not seeing people face to face so I'm not sure what to do (except isolate obviously!).

And just to complicate things, I'm pregnant. Again the NHS says to see the GP 🙄

I would call the GP and see what they say. If she's not too ill they may be able to deal with it as a phone appt with a photo of the rash, they may want to see her in person but you don't know unless you call them.

They wouldn't see her face to face, and I didn't even get to speak to the doctor, just the nurse. The nurse put it down to a teething rash, which she's never had before, and she couldn't explain why she'd have a teething rash on her chest.

Can you do an e- consult and send in photos. Measles is notifiable so the surgery should take swabs.

My two DDs and I had measles and all started with a butterfly face rash. I had seen drs, DD2 had been to the GP and then when I took DD1 (the day after I took DD2) a GP suspected it was measles and not a throat infection. They we all had a swab taken which confirmed it.

It is incredibly unlikely she has measles OP. There is very little of it out there at the moment and 1 dose of MMR provides excellent protection. They give the second dose to boost the rubella function of the vaccine.
