Almost 2 year old poop

My son who is almost 23 months old has been constant pooing about 6 times a day for the last 9 days. He's not in pain but his poo is full of mucus and the smell is awful and poo doesn't normally bother me.

I feel so sorry him he's got such a sore bottom from going so much every single day.

Doctors have sent it of to the lab we are currently awaiting results. However, I'm worried, he's normally gone to the toilet once day but never 6 times a day and it's been going on for 9 days now and isn't showing any sign of slowing Down. They aren't solid poos and some are diarrhoea and some are just super soft. A lot of rhe time his nappies are just full of mucus. Has anyone been through this and everything been okay in the end? Hoping it's just a bug that's taking a long time to pass through his system and nothing more serious but I am really worried.

Thanks for all your help with this one

Forgot to mention, his diet hasn't changed and he's got almost all his teeth now. He seems fine in himself it's just the constant pooping I'm worried about and the amount of mucus. The colour changes from a bright green to then a normal brown colour daily. I'm just really worried not seen this before and just because of how long it's been going on for. Poor boy ☹️
