Chicken pox or bites?

I know mumsnet isn’t a doctors surgery but I’m just looking for anyones personal experience. I only have one child (4 yo) and he has never had the pox before so I don’t really know what I’m looking for.
so Thursday morning he woke up with the spots in the first picture (thigh, bum, hip area). They haven’t changed. The next day, he didn’t develop any more at all. Then today (2 days after first spots) he has woken up with the spots in the second picture (tummy). The first spots still haven’t changed. Could these be chicken pox that are just slowly coming out? Or is the fact that it’s been 2 days and he’s not covered / first ones are unchanged mean it’s not the pox?
they are on areas of skin that are always underneath clothes, could this rule out bites?
help! :)

Chicken pox or bites?

The pattern doesn't sound like chickenpox (quite an unusual place for the first ones to appear, and weird to have a day inbetween with no new ones) but the picture looks quite chickenpox-y to me (the right hand side one, I can't really make out the one on the left on my phone).

I think you'll have to wait and see for a couple more days, I'm torn!

One of my DC only had about 5 spots that didn't even blister while the other one was covered by the way so there's quite a wide range!

I get bites under my clothes when gardening.
Has he been unwell recently ? They are often a bit unwell with it.

Has he been around others with pox lately. My 4yo also started with a couple of spots like the ones in your picture on the tummy. My dds were on her back and I would have thought maybe just bites except lots of her class had recently had chicken pox and sure enough as the day went on a few more appeared.

This was how hers started. She ended up with lots of spots but not hundreds and thankfully she wasn't too itchy or unwell she recovered very quickly and has no scars. If your son has it hopefully it won't be too bad.

My 11yo caught it 17 days after dd, we hoped he'd escaped it but no and he had hundreds of spots everywhere and his lasted longer - he still has loads and it's over 2 weeks now.
