Mild Chicken Pox in Vaccinated Child?

Over the last few weeks most of DDs friends have come down with the chicken pox. She is vaccinated but woke up yesturday morning with a sore throat, red eyes and within a few hours she developed two fluid filled spots looking very much like chicken pox. They burst leaving a sticky raw bit (sorry, tmi). However, she didn't find them itchy and they have since vitually dissappeared just leaving a pin prick size scab. She still has the sore throat and red eyes though. Have any of your DC had similar with breakthrough chicken pox after vaccine? If so, when did you send them back to school. Many thanks.

Thanks @Polyethyl. Good to know we're not the only ones. I think since the spots have dried up she'll be good to go back tomorrow - even if she's only been off 2 days. The reason we had DCs vaccinated was so that it would be mild and they wouldn't miss too much school so it's done it's job!

My DD was well within herself. The spots pretty much vanished after the first day. I only really kept her off for the 2nd day out of good manners to the teacher.

I would keep her off if her eyes are still red, otherwise I think you would get a phone call to collect her. She’s probably a bit run down.
