What is this rash?

Hi

Does anyone know what this rash is please? DS age 9 woke up with it over his tummy/chest yesterday morning and this morning it’s spread to his inner arms and the back of his thighs. The pinpricks of very bright red dots seem to be blood where he’s scratched.

I thought it might have been because he wet the bed yesterday night so washed him with usual bubble bath and slathered some E45 itch relief cream on him as he kept scratching.

He woke up this morning (fresh bedding, didn’t wet the bed) and it’s spread. He says it isn’t itchy unless he scratches it. Will contact a doctor tomorrow unless it gets worse today, but just not sure what it is and whether we should meet friends as planned today.

thanks

Does he have a cold/virus? I have a compromised immune system but every time I get a cold I get something all over that looks identical.

It looks a little like prickly heat to me

No cold or any other symptoms, he’s fine apart from the rash. He isn’t prone to catching things and is pretty robust. Thanks for replying!

Is it usual for him to wet the bed? It could be the start of a virus and be a vital rash.

I'd give Piriton and would cancel plans with friends until you know what it is.

I thought maybe heat rash, thanks - seems odd for it to spring up suddenly? He does tend to get very hot, good metabolism I think! He’s been topless all of yesterday as we had a lazy day at home.

He’s not quite totally reliably dry at night so not unusual for him to wet the bed. Thanks, will see if I can get some Piriton today.
