Help! 8 year old swollen gums!

Hi. I am going out of my mind with worry. My 8 year old has developed swollen upper gums over the last couple of months. We seen the dentist last week who said they were really quite bad and suggested seeing the GP if no better in a week. I'm terrified it's leukaemia or some other awful condition. I think his glands are up also and his face is puffy in the mornings. I tried phoning the GP today but couldn't get an appt. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Did you tell the GP receptionist exactly what your dentist said? I'm amazed you weren't given an appointment yesterday. Ring at 8 am on Monday and tell the receptionist that the dentist has said your child needs an emergency appointment for urgent bloods.
