Virus worse at night?

My 3 yo dd is just getting over this and now my 6mo has it.

Temp up to 38 that reduces with calpol, off their food/bottles, random snotty nose and just generally unwell.

The days are ok but at night they’ve been crying a lot and waking loads. We’ve been keeping them cool and offering liquids.

Has anyones else Little’s ones had this? How long is it generally lasting and do you think Nurofen will help in addition to calpol? I’m always a bit unsure of giving babies too much x

I always give ibuprofen before bed as I find it better.
And yes, if they are uncomfortable then I’d give both paracetamol and ibuprofen

That’s interesting, thank you. I’ll get a bottle today x

Are they grabbing their ears etc? Ear infections etc can be worse when lying down so typically at night.

And raise the head of the bed/cot slightly.

My 3yo did say her ear hurt maybe twice. My baby isn’t really pulling at her ears though. Its so much harder when they can’t tell you what’s wrong x

Whenever our little one's have been poorly docs have advised between alternating between paracetamol and ibuprofen so they've got all the pain relief they need. As long as you're careful with guidelines I'm sure its safe. Hope they perk up soon x

I use a post it note on the boxes of the calpol and nurofen and pop the times on so don't get confused if that helps. Could do on phone as well but I like it being written super clear which is which.

Thanks everyone, some great advice and tips. I’ve just got a bottle of nurofen so hopefully that will help her feel better x
