GP referred my 5 year old DS to the hospital for blood tests due to him complaining of stomach ache and diorhhea after eating every now and then. All his bloods came back normal apart from a low white blood cell count. It was 2.8 when I think it should have been 4. They also did something called a blood film test which is looking for abnormal cells as they said they wanted to rule out leukemia. I have just received a phone call to say his blood film result was normal so that was a relief but they said they can’t rule it out entirely. I can’t explain how worried I’ve been lately. I already suffer with anxiety😩 Does this mean it’s unlikely he has it? I know nobody on here will know for sure, but wondering if anyones been through something similar. He has to go back on the 14th of June for a repeat blood test to see if his white cells have gone up (4 weeks after his first lot). I was over the moon until the doctor said they can’t rule it out entirely☹️

Hi how did you get on? I can’t believe they’d make you wait 4 weeks. We are going through abnormal bloods with my ds and I’m a bag of nerves x

Poor you ☹️I have health anxiety too so completely sympathise.
i think with no other symptoms (excessive bruising, unusual bleeding, extreme fatigue) it’s incredibly unlikely. if it was leukaemia he would be far
more
poorly than some tummy aches and diharrea. Especially with no abnormal cells discovered on the blood film. If they were concerned they’d be acting a LOT faster.
Hopefully tests in a few weeks will be very reassuring x
