Hi, I am worried about my 8 year old son as he regularly complains about his stomach hurting. When my daughter was between about 4 to 7 she would also complain now and then but usually loosening her clothes would help.

I believed my son has been having the same issue. Then he had covid a couple of months ago which was accompanied by terrible stomach pains for good two weeks. The pain started in the afternoon and was getting worse by the evening. He slept well and was fine by the morning until the pain started again in the afternoon. At one point I took him to A&E so bad was his pain. He had his urine sample taken which was fine.

Two months later and he has not stopped complaining daily about his tummy hurting. It tends to be in the evening before dinner or during eating his dinner and he finds it hard to finish the meal. However, it's starting to happen in the morning as well now when he is still in bed. He points at the hip line and describes it as feeling full. Loosening his trousers (he keeps them on the hip line) doesn't help much. His bowel movement seems normal. He empties his bowel usually once every day, stool is not hard and not runny either. Sometime he has to push hard but that's quite rare. His weight is normal. Father has IBS.

I had a phone call with a surgery and as a result was prescribed Laxido paediatric powder for oral solution. To be taken 3-4 times over a month. I was also asked to keep a food diary for one month. The aim is to see if his pain is related to bowel motion. Tbh I don't feel that his bowel needs this solution but maybe I am wrong? I don't know what to do or who to talk to? Thanks

Hi, could it possibly be the glands in his abdomen are swollen after covid? My daughter who is 7 just spent a few nights in hospital with stomach pains, vomiting and dehydration. They don't know what caused it but are saying mesenteric adenitis caused by something viral.

Obviously I didn't know what that was but they had done a ultrasound and her lymph nodes were very swollen.
