Can dr on 111 make hospital appointments ?

Just that really.

Thinking of taking my youngest to hospital as she's not feeding well at all & my gp isn't answering. Been on the waiting line since 8am.

She's 5m and has chickenpox 🥲 but she must have them in her mouth as she's not drinking milk or water at all. It's been a little too long.

However I'm not sure if I can just take her straight as she's still contagious. Wondering if the doctors on 111 can make an appointment for us? Rather than go to the emergency department and wait with everyone?

In the past we had ds referred direct to a paediatric outpatients for assessment via gp. 111 can do similar re. A and E.

Yep, I've had 111 make an appointment (or general time) to bring my DS in for paediatric assessment. I would make it clear that is what you want on the call.
