Hey all

Anxious first time mum here

I met with a friend of mine today and took my baby with me who is 6m old.

My friend was holding him and kissed his hands a few times etc. After about 20 mins I realised she has quite a nasty cold sore 😭

Wtf!!!!!!! I of course took him of her and asked if she kissed him. She looked at me like I'm crazy and said she only kissed his hands. Great ! But he keeps chewing on his hands

I'm freaking out. Do you think he'll catch it now.

Should I see a doctor. I don't know what to do. Currently crying In my bedroom l

I'm not saying that he will definitely catch the virus now but unfortunately there is no way of knowing until a cold sore actually rears up. This virus is very, very common, easily treatable and can be picked up without your knowledge throughout his life unfortunately as i'm sure you are not going to have him under 24 hour surveillance.

Please try not to worry. Small comfort i know but, unless others know different I really dont think there is anything you can do.

I can't believe. We've always been so careful 😞

So sorry this has happened to you, the same happened to me and my 6 month old last month, I was beside myself (i started a thread under this username at the time if you want to look it up, responses were very helpful).

I am pleased to report we've not had any ill effects so just wanted to reassure you it will probably be OK (I know when I read up on it it seemed unavoidable that my LO would have caught it, but it isn't). And mine was kissed horror directly on the lips....

I went to the pharmacy at the time who said there was nothing to do but wait. I also called the HV which was super helpful on the mental health side of things as I was a mess, crying and feeling sick about it all.

I've now almost forgotten about it, hopefully it will be a distant memory for you soon.

Ah thank you so much for this. I will have a read through your thread now ❤️.
I'm so happy your little one is all well!
Hope the same for my little guy. People never stop shocking me. I feel so stupid for trusting people with my baby 😔. I always thought it's common sense to not kiss a baby at all if you have a cold sore xx

Don't feel stupid, they are the stupid ones!

It's definitely common sense, I don't know what's wrong with people. I am such a peaceful person but my overwhelming feeling was definitely anger!

I guess our babies are just too irresistible ❤

Hope you manage to put it out of your mind and have a relaxing evening x

Someone kissed my baby today with what I think was a cold sore. I am sick with worry. Please tell me your baby didn’t catch it ?
