DD6 has had fever, tummy pains and sore throat since Monday.

Not eating as says throat is too sore and makes her tummy hurt/feel sick

Throat looks a little red but nothing too bad.

No fever today so I think she's improving but not sure if I should be taking her to the GP?

I'd take her in case it's an infection.

As her temp is normal today I wouldn’t unless she seemed dehydrated. If she’s drinking enough and is weeing I’d see how she is tomorrow. If she gets a fever again I’d ask them to see her.

My DD6 is very similar. I followed the NHS fever advice which is to see a GP after 5 days.

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas how is your DD now? Did she have an infection?

I'm also concerned school are being funny as she's been off all week!

I'd take her in case it's an infection.

It will be an infection, but sounds likely to be a viral infection which antibiotics have no effect on. So there isn’t a great deal the GP can do, it’s usually just a case of letting the immune system fight it off and helping that process with rest and fluids, plus Calpol/Ibuprofen for the pain and any fever.

Schools annoy me when they behave like that. They’d not be impressed if you sent her in with stomach pain and a sore throat, with her feeling miserable and not well enough to eat her lunch! They’d soon be ringing you to collect her.

Thanks @WhatNowwwww

My gut feeling is it's viral and just got to ride it out. She's pretty fed up from not eating and I'm sure that's not helping things

The GP told me to give Calpol for stomach ache and to try a hot water bottle on her tummy. It’s horrible when they’re ill! I think if she’s still miserable tomorrow I’d take her to see someone so you’re not left over the weekend trying to see someone, but as the fever has gone she’ll hopefully be feeling a bit better in the morning.
