Dd is 9 and was v poorly overnight. Vomited a lot with diarrhoea. I thought it was food poisoning as she had some butter with mould on it as my son pointed out is had 2 bits of mould on it. She’s been sick again this afternoon and now has a temperature of 39.4oC and seems worse and not better. I would have thought food poisoning would only last 24 hours as she seemed better during the day and has some food. Now she is complaining of sore head as well and looks very pale. No rash or anything. Not covid as done LFT but she’s had that twice already, the last being in February. Am concerned with high temperature!

It depends on the bacteria that caused the food poisoning as to the duration of symptoms. Also, FP tends to take more time to come on, but again depends on the organism, some do have short onset times).

The only way to know would be a stool sample. Unless it's a specific bacteria, treatment is usually the same, whether it's noro or bacterial fp, because they are usually self limiting illnesses, getting better after a few days.

Keep her hydrated, rested and dosed up with Calpol. If she gets any worse, don't be afraid to seek medical advice.

Poor love.
