What's the difference between a bone age x-ray of the hand and bone age x-ray of the whole skeleton?

As the title… dc has had the hand done, now they're being referred for the whole body one.

Are you sure the whole body one is a "bone age" and not a DEXA scan or something? My son has had bone age scans done regularly for a long time and it's always his hand. They can read the age by how far apart the bones are.

He has had one DEXA scan which was to check his bone density since there can be isssues with his condition.

He said whole body x-ray. They’ve done some tests, but want to investigate further.

Was it for an injury?
