Hello!

Was just wondering if someone was able to recommend a Private SLT in the South West region?

Our son is only 3 but have just had a quick telephone conversation with the local community SLT. They said if we were still concerned by age 4 they'd do a referral. I was just wondering if it'd be worth going private to help him out as soon as possible.

If anyone has any experience with lateral lisp I'd be most gratefulSmile

SALTs usually work on communication skills rather than pronunciation.

@CraftyGin We've definitely been pointed in the direction of SLT and the phone conversation today definitely confirmed they'd deal with this type of scenario just not until he's 4.

This is totally untrue. Both my children have had lots of speech therapy to get them to articulate their sounds correctly.

I'm bristol too. We used this speech therapy too. www.talkspeechtherapy.co.uk

Honestly if you can afford it I would go private.

The NHS provision is unfortunately not great, and bristol has a lot of demand and limited resources so we ended up going private and it was fantastic. Our DS need support with sounds too and I am so glad we paid for the support.

@springsmiles This is brilliant, thank you! Did it work out quite pricey? I'd be more willing to pay the price if the results would be there!

Do you want to PM and I can try and remember how much we paid. It was a few years ago
