My son is 3 and has grown up in the uk with 2 years during covid has a major skin condition that was diagnosed over the phone as eczema but turns out to be Staphylococcus only this past week did the dermatologist diagnose him with eczema but the swab came back as Staphylococcus, who is responsible here, I feel I have fought a horrendous battle and my poor baby has suffered. We are waiting for a hospital referral

He has a skin infection which they are presumably treating with antibiotics? When you say major skin condition, in what way major? How long did it go untreated? Complain to the GP practice if you are not happy with his care.

It probably still is eczema though, eczema can become infected

So you need to treat the current infection but also manage the eczema.

Do you understand what staphylococcus is?

No one is to blame and it’s not a major skin condition.

No one is to blame

Who's to blame for what?

thingymaboob · 29/04/2022 20:06

No one is to blame. Some people just carry it on their skin more than others. TMI but I get quite a lot of boils and skin infections and I'm definitely prone.

winterchills · 29/04/2022 20:31

What are you talking about? I think you have misunderstood.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 29/04/2022 20:34

DD’s eczema often used to get infected by staph, it is normally secondary to the eczema not instead of it.

Right treatment makes the world of difference, if it keeps coming back you may all need to be swabbed for staph and long term eradication treatment stated.

Nobody is to blame, since people do just get infected.
