How long to see affects from nutramigen and gaviscon work

After begging the doctors to listen to me my little boy got prescribed milk and gaviscon. He has been on it since 4 o'clock yesterday so I know it's not been long, after first bottle he was screaming in even more pain than what he previously was, has become more congested and doesn't seem at all better if not worse? Can this happen ?

When my little one went onto nutramigen he actually got a lot worse and came out in a huge rash, we got switched to Neocate and he was fine within a couple of days on that.

I can’t remember how quickly the nutramigen helped sorry, but the Gaviscon didn’t help at all and caused constipation, so that’s something to watch out for. Worth asking for Omeprazole suspension (not the dissolvable tablets) if the Gaviscon doesn’t work.
