Help. Poss Chickenpox 5week old

Hi
I've already called 111 and a doctor is due to call me back but it's already been over two hours and I can't stop worrying.

Does anyone know what a chickenpox rash looks like on a newborn? My daughter is 5weeks old and on Saturday my niece broke out with a rash which turned into chickenpox. My daughter was not in contact with her but she was in contact with my other niece sister of one that had chickenpox.
Please can someone advise on the symptoms and what the rush might look like I've also attached a photo.

Thank you so much for your help and I am waiting for a medical expert to get back to me.

That doesn't look like chicken pox to me from the experience I have had of it. They are very clustered in one place. It looks more like a heat sort of rash.

Also if your niece only came out with it on Saturday that's not long enough to incubate chicken pox. It's normally 10-14 days.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 18/04/2022 11:22

I agree that doesn't look like the pox.

Pox spots are more like individual fluids filled blisters, those look like the kids off trash they get when either milk had been irritating their skin or they have a virus or are too hot.

Are you breastfeeding? If so you should be passing immunity on, my 1yo only had it v mildly due to the immunity from my milk.

WalkerWalking · 18/04/2022 11:25

That's not chicken pox. Don't panic, there are lots and lots of very mild viruses that give this sort of rash. But you've done the right thing calling 111.

How is your daughter in herself? If she's very poorly, then don't hesitate to call back, or head to A&E if you're worried x

Doesn’t look like pox too me, looks like a milk rash from dripping out of the mouth when feeding.does it go under a glass?

Faffodil · 18/04/2022 11:27

Hi hope you get some reassurance soon, we had CP scare when DS newborn as he'd been in contact with it. Was just newborn acne.

LIZS · 18/04/2022 11:31

Looks like a heat/sweat rash.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 18/04/2022 11:35

Doesn't look like the pox to me either.

SpaghettiSquash · 18/04/2022 11:40

Definitely not chicken pox. Looks more like a heat rash. Does she seem well in herself?

Thank you everyone for your quick replies. I still haven't had a call back from the doc yet.

She's is feeding but seems a little bit unsettled than normal. No temperature either.

She has a little bit of the rash on her face too.

Just wished it wasn't the bank holiday and we could see a doc sooner.

Thanks again for all your comments and advice xx

Definitely like like acne type spots and it's where the dribbling milk would irritate

chubbachub · 18/04/2022 11:57

My 3 (inc baby) have had chicken pox the past 2 weeks. It doesnt look like CP to me

Sometimes small children can get a rash like that along with a virus. If you are really concerned speak to Gp tomorrow or ring 111 but look up viral rash first

Figmentofimagination · 18/04/2022 12:02

It doesn't look like chicken pox to me. My DS (4) has just come out with chicken pox yesterday. Most are random blisters across his body, and then a collection of spots and blisters behind his ear.
Also, it can take 2-3 weeks for chickenpox to appear after being exposed. There has been an outbreak at my DS's school. He hasn't been in school since Thurs 7th and he's only showing now.
A friend's DD has also just had chicken pox (goes to the same school but year 2). The DD's spots appeared on Fri 8th, her younger DS does not have spots yet and it's been 10 days.

Thanks for your message and I hope your little one feels better soon.

I'm still waiting for a dr to call us back.

She still doesn't have a temperature and the rash doesn't appeared to have spread so I'm hoping it's nothing to worry about x
