DS is 7, and has always had a strange-looking bottom tooth, as though the front tooth and the one next to it (going away from the centre, so not the other front tooth iyswim) have fused together. The "normal" bottom front tooth fell out about a year ago, and the new one has just started to appear.
The new tooth is coming through at a strange angle, and it now seems to be pushing the fused-together tooth out of the way. We assumed the strange tooth would fall out, but so far it hasn't - although it is loose. However, DS has started to complain that it's hurting (doesn't seem to be agonising, just a noticeable ache), and when I looked at it tonight, I realised that the back of it is starting to turn brown.
I phoned the dentist a couple of weeks ago to get an appointment, but the first one they were able to give me is towards the end of May. Now that it's causing him pain, I'd rather DS was seen sooner, but I don't know whether it's urgent enough to warrant an emergency appointment.
Has anyone come across this before? Any ideas what to do? Does it need to be treated urgently or can it wait another month until the appointment? Thanks!
