Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar situation to me. Sorry for the long post in advance.
My daughter was born weighing 9lb6oz on the 98th percentile, she is now 14 weeks old and dropped to the 19th percentile and weighs 11lb14oz. Growth chart image attached. She is EBF and feeds frequently throughout the day and normally once at night.
We have been seeing the health care visitor who says she is not overally concerned but has referred us to the GP due to the drop on the growth chart.
She has always had a congested nose since she was born, can be very irritable and suffer from wind at times. I also think her nappy’s look sticky sometimes, all of which I know can be a sign of an allergy, particularly cows milk protein. Therefore I excluded milk from my diet from the past 2.5 weeks to see what difference it made.
We saw the GP who dismissed a cows milk protein allergy as she does not have any skin rash (not sure if I agree…). She is happy with her physical examination and spoke to the local paediatric who advised to top up feed with 120ml of expressed breast milk three times a day in addition to her normal feeds. Yesterday I expressed what I could and gave her it in a bottle but feel that this is just replacing when I would be feeding her directly as she will only take so much milk in a day and I can’t force her to feed.
As the GP dismissed a cows milk allergy I reintroduced it to my diet yesterday, this morning she has woke up crying, won’t latch, doesn’t want to be put down. I have managed to get her to have 60ml of expressed from a bottle but that’s all she would take and has gone back to sleep on me.
I successful EBF my son (now 2 years old) for 18months. Looking back at his growth charts he followed the 50th and did not drop off.
Just looking for any advise or experience anybody has had. Thanks.
