Hey, this is quite a long one but hoping someone can help.

My ds (5) has had 1 enlarged lymph node in his neck for the last 2 years. He had bloods and a scan early on where nothing suspicious or concerning was found. Thankfully.

We’ve learnt to live with the swollen lymph node but every time he’s unwell it gets even bigger and much more noticeable. The other side will swell too.

Since Feb 2022 he’s been on-off unwell. Firstly chicken pox, tonsillitis (antibiotics), covid, tummy bug, now ear infection and sore throat. He’s complaining of all body aches and a sore tummy too. He’s on-off complained of tired legs since Nov 2021.

Doctor has made an urgent referral to paediatrics as his tonsils are so enlarged they’re impacting on his breathing. In the meantime she has suggested he takes a blue inhaler as he also has a wheeze on his chest. His tonsils have always been large but this problem (sore throat and tonsillitis) is relatively new. He has a new swollen gland behind his ear.

We’ve also been asked to do bloods and a stool test. I’ve been racking my brain as to why he’s so unwell and just when he seems to be getting better he gets ill again. Is this happening with other people’s children too?

He recently started swimming and has just become confident with putting his head under the water. He cries everytime we go as he says the water is too cold and I’m wondering if it related to this as well.

I’d love to know if anyone else is in a similar position or has been and what the outcome was.

Thank you
