Found a lump on 4 month old DS

Hi all,

Bit of a back story...

I really need some help or advice, my DS is 4 months old. He has severe reflux and is looking like he has CMPA. He's breastfed and I've been dairy free for 3 weeks now on the advice of his paediatrician. We've been trialling omeprazole since Christmas and have upped his dosage in February which has had no effect. He screams all day and night, I'm really not exaggerating. It's ear piercing squeals. He's got mucus and dark streaks of blood in his nappies. The blood isn't every nappy but at least weekly we get a couple. He brings up every feed and has dropped two centiles in the last 6 weeks. This has been going on since he was 2 weeks old. His next hospital appointment has been moved to July and we're currently waiting on a dietician referral for his potential allergies.

Anyway...

Last week whilst changing his nappy I noticed a large hard lump next to his bottom, doctors saw him last week and examined him. She said it was quite big and could feel that it was tracking to something internally and didn’t feel as though it was just something under the skin. The doctor is called the paediatric surgical team last week to find out next steps, she said it could just be a cyst he was born with and nothing to worry about but I hadn’t noticed it until last week. I’m going out of my mind with worry, thinking the worst. The doctor said he’ll need a scan to determine what it is.

Today has been a nightmare, he is screaming and screaming in pain. I don't know who to call or what to do with him but I cannot get him seen. Doctors just say wait for the hospital and A&E I attempted last night (6-8 hour wait, waiting room jam packed, children coughing and being sick everywhere) I felt uncomfortable and left after an hour. Now I don't know what to do. A&E was a last resort and the nurse made me feel like I was ridiculous for taking him in.

What the hell do I do? I'm a mum at breaking point and my baby is in so much pain.

Can you call 111? They might be able to fast track him in at A&E so you don't need to wait so long.

Also, if CMPA is suspected, try cutting out soya as well, the protein is very similar and lots of babies react to both. Mine both did.
