5 year old headache should I be worried

My DS almost 5 said his head was hurting this morning. He's never said anything like this before.
He seems ok, I checked temp all ok. Fine in himself playing etc.
He said it hurts when he moves his head side to side.
Can 5 year olds get headaches for no reason? Or does it always mean something?
I'm so worried.
And I have health anxiety which isn't helping as I'm worrying myself silly because he was running and slipped up on wet floor and banged his head 4 and a half weeks ago and I'm freaking out it's due to that now.
He was fine after the fall and no headache or sickness at the time.

Does he have a blocked nose? That could make it painful to move his head if he's all congested. Also, has he had an eye test recently? First sign of then 6-yo DD1 needing glasses was headaches.

Could be a COVID symptom. Get him an eye test if he hasn’t had one. I would see how it goes for a day or two and give Calpol for the pain. Like you a say, he is otherwise well so I yes unlikely to be anything. But speak to your GP of it persists, just to put your mind at rest. If it gets better after the Easter holidays, it could be anxiety with can present as headaches (and tummy pains) in children. Also, give him a couple if early nights. Not enough sleep can cause headaches in children in my experience.

I suffer with migraines and my son started getting them from about the age of 5. They got less as he got older partly because the older he got the more he recognised the signs and was able to take medication before it became really bad and by the age of 11 he luckily grew out of them. But the first time I was really worried it was something more serious as like you he had never complained that his head was hurting

My 7yo said he had a headache which he's only ever said once before and he started with chicken pox the next day. Hope this helps OP.

The weather has been so warm, is he properly hydrated? Have you done an LFT as it might be the start of Covid. Otherwise don’t worry too much. More than likely a one off.
