Light or pale poo in child

How normal is a lighter coloured poo in a child age 4? I’m talking caramel ice cream colour, as opposed to chocolate colour (sorry!)

I know a white poo or very light coloured poo can be a sign of a serious health issue. How light is too light?

Thanks

I guess as a one off in a child who appears fine, it could be dietary. However if it is a regular situation I would definitely seek medical attention.

My daughter had lighter pop than normal last week but is back to normal yesterday and today. She is nearly 2, is teething and getting over a snotty nose. The teeth are now through and snot mostly gone so I think it might be linked to that in our instance

My kids get this when they’re ill - usually stomach bug but also sometimes with a cold. Poo is yellow (not white) and goes back to normal within a day or two.

If (and only if) it's every few minutes hours, rotavirus would fit the bill.

My little one had this for a few days after a virus - went back to normal colour once she had started eating properly again. Has your LO been ill?

@JammyCandy My son had light poop for ages!! I was driving myself mad! At first was panicking that he might have a liver issue cause liver issues sometimes get pale poops. I never got to the bottom of it!! He had ascaris roundworm infection causing zero symptoms, our naturopath doctor found it ,gave us therapy for roundworm and the pale poop disappeared!! If the pale poop insists, worth checking for parasites x
