Twin blocks brace

Hi all,

I know that there are few threads about this type of brace, but I'm looking for advice from anyone whose child had theirs glued in for a couple of weeks.

Any tips about pain relief etc would be appreciated. Also what did you feed them?? My DD is very concerned that she won't be able to go near a crisp for 2 weeks 😁

I have asked the orthodontist about not gluing them in but they seem to think that she'll be fine and just think I'm a nervous parent. Maybe she will be fine but she has mental health issues and her school have been talking about autism, which would explain a lot of her behaviours.

Thanks!

Are you sure they are twin blocks being glued in? My DS is having twin block in April and they are removable and can be taken out for eating.

Posting with interest but no advice I’m afraid.

My DS has been recommended a twin block but the orthodontist has not mentioned gluing it in at all. This must be an optional thing to avoid it being removed too often.

Definitely being glued in tomorrow, her orthodontist insists that this is done. Seems to be becoming more common across other orthodontists as well.

I and my DH have spoken to nearly everyone at the practice about this, and we organised a session with people who've had them for my DD to have a chat with.

She's under SEN and luckily one of the TAs has had them so she is going to support her at school.
