My DD is 10 in year 5 and having her 3rd period. She says she feels like she’s in the wrong class at school. She towers above everyone in height and has no one to talk to about how she feels. Until now she’s been really comfortable in the social school side of school life. Yesterday she described feeling ‘smiling depressed’ which she read about online. I’m unsure how much this could be the impact of those annoying hormones. Not sure how the school could perhaps help? Year 5 seems like that year when there is a lot of flux in girls’ social circles. I think she finds it annoying on top of the puberty. I want to help her but don’t want to overreact. Maybe a counsellor would give her space to process it all. Anyone got any advise?
