First off GP appt is booked in but can’t see her for a while. Just fishing for similar experiences to see what I can do to help in the meantime.

She’s got a bloated tummy all the time, her poo isn’t particularly well formed and sticks to the pan. She passes wind a lot. She’s on a great diet but I feel somethings bothering her.

I’m guessing the likely culprits are lactose/wheat. Has anyone had this with their kids and what were your experiences/advice while I’m trying to get to the bottom of this? TIA

Sorry your DD is going through this, it must be uncomfortable for her.

You’ll probably be asked to keep a food diary. Write down everything she eats in a day and see what foods coincide with her bad tummy. Then gradually eliminate them. You could start this now.

It is also likely the GP will recommend bloods to test for other potential causes such as inflammatory bowel disease and/or coeliac disease.

If no cause can be found and she does not improve you can push for a referral to a specialist (if you are in the UK).

It is important not to get ahead of yourself and start cutting out foods such as wheat and dairy before an actual diagnosis as that might do more harm than good.

I hope you get to the bottom of it soon and your daughter gets better :)

Thank you, yes this is what I’m worried about. I have a suspicion it maybe lactose causing it but she’s in desperate need of her calcium right now so I’m reluctant to do that until I know she’s getting it back 100%.

Thank you I’ll start putting a diary together for her ☺️
