My 9yo currently has chicken pox, he's covered in them, has had a high temp since Tuesday night that is only controlled by calpol, and has had tummy ache /nausea since then...but today his throat has really started bothering him. I had looked 3 times today and can only see slight redness but he's woken him up again just now and he's clearly in a lot of pain. I've given him (more) icecream and he's drinking his water. Just hoping for any suggestions/ideas?

Poor boy, my DS had really severe chicken pox and had trouble swallowing , GP said it can spread to the oesphagus.
It was a long time ago as DS is now 20 but GP gave him something that made him sleepy but he was on verge of being admitted as he was not drinking much.
I would phone 111 in morning for advice.

Thanks so much NK. Think I will. It's awful isn't it. Luckily he's drinking well so far.
