Hi all,

My DS age 3 came down with a nasty cold and swollen tonsils with white dots on them 3 days ago but no temperature (unusual for him as he is prone to high temperatures for the mildest thing). He was fine within himself and still rowdy as normal and I expected him to bounce back.

However, today he woke with a temp (38) and it’s gone up and down all day. We are alternating calpol and ibuprofen. Weirdly, his tonsils look less horrible today.

I phoned 111 as he wouldn’t eat, was hot and lathargic and wanted advice as he really wasn’t himself. They said it sounded like bacterial tonsillitis and prescribed him clarithromycin.

Just wondered if this sounds like something that could develop after a few days? He’s had tonsillitis before but it started off with a temp and then he developed the yucky tonsils.

Any words of wisdom/your experience/ thoughts gratefully received.

I HATE when the kids are ill x
