Poo problem with 8yr old

Hi,

About a month ago my 8yo started complaining that her bum was hurting after doing a poo. She said it felt like something was still there at the bottom, but there wasn't.

I thought it could just be a little bit of constipation, so tried a few remedies but she still felt the same so after a couple of weeks took her to the GP who gave her some movicol, which she has taken everyday, but it's still happening. Now even when she hasn't done a poo she's saying it feels like something is there that feels spiky.

She is pooing regularly, so I'm not even sure if she is constipated. Has anyone had similar and have any advice? Smile

Take her to see the GP.

I think you'll find people reluctant to 'share experiences' of their young children's bottoms to a new poster with no history.

Look up anal fissure.

It can take a long time to heal. Keep doing movicol and go back to the GP

Thanks for the reply. I am a long term poster that has recently NC, but fair enough.

Wasn’t looking for specifics, just something along the lines of had similar and it turned out to be…

Will take her back to GP anyway as the movicol isn’t making a difference as she’s not constipated.
