Baby only has one tooth

My almost 8 month old had his first tooth appear about 3 weeks ago. Its one of the bottom front teeth. I’m worried as I’ve read so much about how they’re meant to come in pairs, and the other babies we’re friends with all have 2 front teeth coming. Should I be worried he only has one and no signs of another?

My first child didn't have any teeth until he was 10 months old and then he got his two bottom ones first, one after the other. He's 7 now and all his baby teeth turned up fine with time.

Don’t take much notice about what you read online, my DD got her teeth in a completely different order.

She didn’t get her first tooth until just after she turned 1, took about 4 weeks for the next to cut (bottom front). According to online she should’ve got the top 2 next; she didn’t, she got a 3rd bottom then she got two up top (but one central and one lateral) so it’s not always the order you read online.

My first got her first tooth about 7 months, second got her first tooth after her first birthday and my son is almost 10 months and has 8, ready to pop another two as well,! They're all different 🙂

Ds had only one tooth for ages. He looked like a character from the Beano! All teeth present and correct now.

DD had no teeth until 12 months. Her bottom two came in a similar time but none of the others have come together. She gets them in a strange order too

Don't worry. In all of history, I have never heard of anyone's teeth not coming through.

Only one of my five had a tooth before 12 months old.

Mine both didn't get their first teeeth till about 10 months I think. Subsequent teeth have always come in their own time relatively late. By the time they got to their "12 year old" molars I think they were about 3 years "behind".

Nothing to worry about. I had dd2 at dentist last week, 14 months, with dd1, 3.5. They were laughing that at same age dd1 had zero teeth. Dd2 has ten.
