DS is 2 & came down with an illness about 5 weeks ago. Day 1 was fever followed by days 2 & 3 vomiting. No diherrea.
Since getting better, DS has had awful bowel movements. It started with the odd day & watery poos, gradually getting worse to now on average 2/3 just water poos each day. The worse we have had in any one day is 5 watery bouts. He hasn't had a normal poo since January.
He's ok in himself, generally has an appetite & is drinking & not dehydrated but he is losing weight. He's starting to look unwell & boney & his clothes are becoming big on him. His bottom & bits are so sore from frequent changes & the diherrea.
He's been to the gp twice. First time they said he'll get back to normal & to see how he gets on. Ended up calling 111 this week as so concerned one night when he was very distressed. He has woken up to his bed covered in diherrea.
Last taken to the gp this week & they want a poo sample. This is proving tricky as I work & he's in nursery (who are happy to have him/gp said nursery is fine as he's not contagious), so getting a poo sample that day & dropping it off to the gp before 1pm is hard.
Obviously I'm going to keep trying but nursery won't do the sample for me so it's hoping he'll go first thing in the morning.
Today he's not himself. Woke up feeling warm but soon came back down. He's had 3 bouts today & everything he's eaten has come straight back out. He's very tired, not lethargic, & is extremely agitated & keeps crying. However he is also having bouts of wanting to run around & play.
I'm just so worried & both gps don't seem concerned (unless dehydrated), but all the while I have to watch my little boy unwell & lose weight. Each time he has a poo now he gets upset. He can't trump without an explosion.
Has anyone had similar or any suggestions of what to do?
Been through with the gp no changes in diet, no new medication etc & my gp doesn't really agree it could be an intolerance however I think differently. DS suffers with bad exczema & coughing too. Mentioned this to gp who said none of this is connected.
I feel so helpless & I'm so close to just taking him into hospital as I feel awful for him :(
