Banging head

My ds 19 months old everytime hes told no something doesnt go his way he bangs his head on the floor doors walls what ever he is near. How an earth do i stop this and why an earth does he do it

My DS used to do this. He used to have a permanent bruise in the middle of his forehead 🙁 I think it was frustration as once his speech developed and he could express himself he stopped doing it.

I used to try and distract him when he was head banging but it wouldn't always work. If he couldn't be distracted I would slip a cushion between him and the object was banging his head on.
