Baby not smiling and not making eye contact

My baby is 9weeks old. She’s born at 37weeks. Im just really concern that she still not able to make eye contact and doesn’t smile or coo. She seem to be avoiding making eye contact with me or her dad. She always looks up and stares at the wall or lights. It just gives me so much anxiety thinking of this developmental milestones that she is lagging behind.

She was born at 37 weeks, so in reality she is only 6 weeks old. Not all baby's are the same, talk to you HV if you are that concerned.

GeMa08 · 23/02/2022 15:25

I will mention it in the next visit.

Babies make eye contact between 6 to 10 weeks of age. Your baby is only 6 weeks old so shouldn't be much longer to wait.

Don't worry, my 37 weeker smiled much later than my 42 weeker (I know they tell you not to correct dates after 37 weeks but I always have in my head when it comes to milestones etc!) Plenty of time before needing to worry.

Hey how is your daughter now?

GeMa08 · 16/09/2022 21:02

Hi!
She’s 8month old now and very smily and active.she is just a chill baby. Doesn’t cry a lot. I remember how anxious I was before and ony if I knew that it was just a phase, I could have just enjoyed moments with my little one rather than stressing myself thinking about these developmental milestones.

Thank you for getting back to me! Oh that's lovely to know. My daughter is 10 weeks old and is avoiding looking at me and will not make eye contact when she does look at me. Did your daughter avoid looking at you or was it just the eye contact? I'm just so worried as she's not cooing either. Google has absolutely freaked me out

Nice NC fail

No one mentioned autism apart from you but ok. Are all the drunks on MN tonight? Or just the fact it’s gone midnight and the crazies are out?

Exactly no where in the OP post, did it mention Autism.

No NC fail, just someone else (very possibly another ND) who picked up on the underlying tone of your post - an underlying tone which, shucks, you're now trying to play dumb over
