Diarrhoea in 3 year old

3.5 year old has had diarrhoea since Thursday. No other symptoms other than a sudden tummy ache, then diarrhoea and the tummy ache stops. Eating which I am keeping bland - toast, banana, eggs… not sure what else I can give him as this is getting boring! Drinking water, passing urine and playing as usual. It’s been 6 days now and no sign of letting up. Any advice?

I called the dr today as it’s been a week now and no improvement. He’s hungry and thirsty and playing fine etc but three times a day has explosive diarrhoea.

She wasn’t concerned as said sounds like a bug and to keep with bland diet.. I feel sorry for him as he’s hungry! He’s been having toast, eggs, banana, weetabix.. although I realised the milk probably isn’t ideal so maybe I’ll stop that tomorrow!

Anyone else have experience of this? I feel sorry for him!!

Our 4.5 year old is currently the same. Since last Thursday, eats and then diarrhoea.
I took him to the Drs this morning and tjey think bug and ride it out as he is happy playing, eating, drinking, no temperature or signs of being unwell.

They did give me a sample pot incase it doesn't clear by early next week.

That’s reassuring! although sorry for you! I feel so sorry for him as I want to give him nice food. He is however being really well behaved which makes me think it’s the lack of sugar and we may continue that!! Fingers crossed they both recover soon! X

@KatyRebecca84 I hope so too! It just seemed so odd as there's no other sign of illness.

Our GP said let him eat what he wants as it probably won't make a difference and because he's started being worried about eating the last day or so, I think because he has twigged that food is triggering the runs, but I think we'll keep it relatively plain unless he asks for something specific.

Fingers crossed they're on the mend soon!

Well chicken and rice and toast has had no effect so bless him I think I’ll let him eat what he wants as it’s mean and pointless! Please let me know how you get on x
