Any tips to alleviate never ending toddler cough?

DS, just 3, suffers with the usual merry go round of toddler/nursery ailments.

Has had a bug for a week now (not covid). Had a day of fever/vomit. Then was fatigued for couple of days. Then it evolved into a very snotty nose (now abating) and now we’re at the endless cough stage.

He hasn’t slept through for 8 consecutive nights. Coughs awake. Then wants one of us. And then once settled can take ages to sleep as keeps coughing awake. Sometimes he seems to sleep through the coughs. But we can’t!

We’ve been trying a few things to try and alleviate it. Humidifier. Calpol plugs. Olbas oil. Making sure his pillow is elevated.

Any other tips gratefully received. I’m sure he just needs a bit more time to shift the phlegm. But the coughing is driving us all mad and making us all tired and grumpy.

Thanks in advance!

Anti-histamine will dry a cough out.... like Piriton liquid.

Saved me many a nights sleep with my 3 when they were that age.

Never thought of that. Thank you. Will give it a go.
