Baby also gets sick after going out

Please tell me I'm not alone:

My 1 year old always gets a cough and cold when I take him anywhere (soft play, swimming, groups). Obviously he's then really grouchy because he's not well and it gets me really down.

He ended up in hospital a couple of weeks ago with a chest infection; I waited until he was 100% well then took him out and now he's sick again :(

Honestly I love taking him out but I just can't deal with this every time. It's starting to make me just want to stay in but then I worry about my own mental health.

I know babies are prone to getting sick but is my baby worse than other or is this just how it is?

Subject should say "Baby ALWAYS gets sick...."

It's how they develop an immune system good enough to be able to go out without getting sick eventually. Bloody shit while it's happening though! I've found giving wellbaby vitamins that have the iron have helped ours get ill less often (or it's pure coincidence!) but it will pass eventually

It’s awful but normal. Some babies and young children are prone to all colds going to their chest- like 2 of mine. I avoid soft play these days as it’s the worst for catching stuff. Nursery and school are the same. It’s just part of childhood but it’s tough looking after sick kids.
