My child woke up with there eye completely shut this morning so went straight to a&e where they diagnosed peri orbital cellulitis. They took bloods which confirmed it hasn’t spread to the blood stream. They’ve prescribed antibiotics and eye creams, but since I’ve got home I’ve been googling and now I’m worried ? What are the chances or it turning into orbital cellulitis now he has antibs?

I hope the antibiotics have brought down the swelling and your DC is feeling better

Dr Google is the worst but I can't help but look things up too. I always seem to find the worst case scenario!

My ds has peri orbital cellulitus when he was 4. He was treated with Iv anti biotics i hospital but took a couple of days to go down and then continued antibiotics at home.
Just keep.on top of antibiotics.

Thank you ! I am the worst I shouldn’t of looked on google as his eye has gone right down now and is so much better, although he does have a slight fever today so im keeping an eye on that. They were going to give IV but changed there mind so im glad about that. I’d never heard of peri orbital cellulitis before to be honest , sorry your little ones had it too x
