So my son is 4 years old and has been suffering with constipation since summer 2021.
I've been back and forth to the doctors with him and feel like I'm not getting anywhere.
The first time I took him the doctors. The GP pressed down onto his stomach and said she could feel he was impacted with lots of poo. She prescribed us with cosmocol sachets.
Still no change I took him back to the GP a second time and the same doctor prescribed another box of cosmocol and senna.
I went back a 3rd time and the same doctor prescribed him with a bottle of lactulose. Because the cosmocol didn't seem to be working.
I went back to our GP office for the 4th time. We seen a different doctor and she prescribed him with another bottle of lactulose and a higher dosage of senna.
We went home he was so poorly due to his constipation so the same night I went to A&E out of hours. We seen a doctor who then prescribed us with suppositories and movicol sachets.
We finished the movicol sachets and the 7day course of suppositories. I seen a change in him using these to products more than anything else we was getting off the GP. But he is still really suffering.
It's affecting his day to day life. Our day is surrounded of changing his nappy every other 10minutes because he's trying that much for a stool movement but nothing seems to budge.
I genuinely feel like I don't know what else to do. I feel like the doctors are just not taking me seriously at all☹️we've got to that point we're me and my son are both just crying together because it is tooo much now. I feel as though there is more to it just being constipation. I feel also he should be scanned but I am never heard
He has always been a good eater. I have also switched up his diet with more water and more fruit and veg throughout the day. Most days he won't eat anything because he is that uncomfortable trying to poo.
Is stools are also green and really hard. He is currently being potty trained he can go to the toilet fine on his own for a wee but he just will not go to the toilet for a number 2. He constantly needs a nappy to poo in.
Sorry about the graphic image in the comments but I had to show someone and get an opinion on what they think. He's going to school this year and I just don't want him to still be suffering as bad as he is when he starts😫
Has anyone else different with anything similar? Thank you for your help x
