X-ray for 3 YO

My 3 YO DD needs to go for a x-ray next week and I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me the practicalities of this. I know usually it only should be the patient in the room due to the radiation but she's only 3 and I really don't think she will be happy to be on her own. Has anyone had xrays on younger children? Will I be allowed to stay with her?

Mine was a bit younger so I don’t know what the cut off age was, but I had to go in the room with him to hold him in the right place. I had to wear a lead apron. They did it very fast so he wasn’t bothered at all.
One thing - I wasn’t allowed in if I was pregnant or might be, if that applies to you?

Yes you can go in. I was bf at the time and jusy had a big heavy thing to wear over my top.

Yes, you will be expected to go in with them and will need to wear a type of protective apron. If you are pregnant then you can’t so you will need to arrange someone else to go, rather than springing it on them when you get there and it the. Having to be rescheduled.

As long as you weren't pregnant you will be able to stay in with them. You'll have to wear a heavy lead coat. They should ask you your name and relationship to the child and record that data. Although that's a bit patchy. And don't worry about the radiation dose it will be absolutely fine.
