20 month old soft spot not fully closed

hi everyone
my sons soft spot was quite large, he is now 20 months and it’s still slightly open- around just under 2 fingers wide.
we were meant to be seeing the paediatrician tomorrow but it’s been cancelled as we all have covid.
The HV has really really stressed me out about it. There is mixed things online as some say it can take up to 2 years.
Does anyone have any personal experiences on a soft spot still being open slightly at this age? Thanks

Hi,
I don’t have any answer to this all, but hope you find out very soon! I’m in the exact sane position as you. Due to pandemic my daughter had no health visitor; she turns 21 months at the end of this month and the soft spot at the top of her head hasn’t closed either.. spoke to a friend who is a gp and said it needs to be checked but could be thyroid related😟 will book an appt with the gp tomorrow. Please keep us updated x

I wouldn't get too excited until past two years, though I would want to measure and plot a head circumference to play safe.

Does anyone have an update on their baby? My 21 month old still has a small open anterior soft spot and my HV or doctor don’t seem to know the significance of it (surprising they don’t know more about it). A bit worried now.
