5 month tenses up

My little 5 month old has started tensing up and shakes his arms, he remains conscious and unhurt by these, it’s through frustration as in wanting to get something he’s seen. It just seems to be constant, has anyone else experienced this? Do they just grow out of it x

Is it a moro reflex?

Do you have a video of this that you can show your health visitor? Is he developing well and maintaining his skills? I'm sure it probably is frustration and I would never ever want to frighten a parent but please watch some videos on infantile spasms to be sure that he isn't doing those movements - it is rare but it needs to he recognised. My DS was much less frustrated once he could crawl to what he wanted!!

He’s doing over well. I’ve looked at videos of infantile spasms and they don’t look similar. He makes a frustrated noise when he’s doing it.

@GigantosaurusRex thank you, I have already looked at IS, but it’s not when he wakes up etc, he doesn’t lose eye focus or consciousness.
It’s when he wants something or gets excited.
Did your little one do this too?

@Jane88b no, he didn't but I work in Healthcare so I've seen children with IS and wanted to be sure it wasn't a possible cause. . My boy was just very busy and wanted to be on the move all the time, he still does!
