ExH against ALL vaccines.

Hi

Since Covid hit and the vaccines were rolled out, my ex H has become slightly obsessive about them.
He refuses to do lateral flows and just don't even mention the Covid vaccines!

This obsession though has started on all vaccines now, and he flatly refused to let the school do flu vaccines on our children.

He wrote to the school and even kept them off school the day the nurses were in because he didn't trust them.

Unfortunately they were with him that day, and the first I knew about it was when the school called me to ask where they were.

I just don't know how to handle this as he's becoming more and more obsessed.

I'm worried as he's a very complex character and he makes life extremely difficult for me at times, but I will not compromise in my childrens health.

If I consent but ex doesn't, what can the school do?

Thanks for reading.

From a medico-legal point of view, consent of only one parent is required so you would definitely be in a position to ensure yours get it.

If he is making decisions that are contrary to their best interests on schooling / health you may end up needing legal advice of some kind sooner or later.

What can you do but ignore him? Nod and repeat that you don't agree.

If they miss a vaccine, just call up the children's vaccination team in your area and they will arrange another appointment for you.

How old are the kids? Once they get to early teens and are deemed gilick competent they can consent to vaccines and medical treatment without parental consent. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gillick_competence

So did they miss all their childhood jabs prior to COVID?

From the Green Book (the authoritative reference document firbvaccine and vaccine procedures):

"although consent of one person with parental responsibility for a child is usually sufficient, if one parent agrees to immunisation but the other disagrees, the immunisation should not be carried out unless both parents can agree to the immunisation or there is a specific court approval that the immunisation is in the best interests of the child"

@Excitedforthefuture No that's the thing pre Covid and when we were together, he never paid any interest in their vaccines. So they've had all the ones they should have.

This has only happened since Covid.

Kids are 9&10 however I'm worried he's brain washing them so even when they are deemed competent enough they'll say no based on his assumptions.
