Suggestions for a cough and cold

Hi everyone I'm in need of advice please. My dd had covid 5 weeks ago and her cough never went away and the doctor said he thinks she was suffering from long covid and there's nothing I can do other than wait for it to go away. It slowly started to die down and a few days ago started to get a cold and another cough. I've tested her and it's negative so I'm pretty sure it's just a cold but she's really congested. Is there anything I can do to help her today ready for Santa tomorrow. She's so excited for tomorrow but I'm worried she won't beable to enjoy her day. We've had 3 nights on the sofa as it's cooler air downstairs. Gave calpol and cough syrup. Any other recommendations? I feel so bad for her she's just not been free from it since covid. Just when I think she's getting better her cough comes back or she gets another cold. Thanks.

Vicks on the soles of her feet at night. I have no idea why it works but it does. DGD here at the moment woke coughing, did her feet and sge went back to sleep without coughing again.

Have been using vicks like this for more years than I care to remember, it always works.

Thankyou. Do you put socks on after aswell once you've applied the vicks?

Sounds tough! A cool air humidifier and some teaspoons of honey might help a bit? Have you asked GP about whether she needs an inhaler? Our son uses his every time he has a cold as it inevitably turns into a horrendous cough.

@minimaxi thankyou. I'll try the honey. she had an inhaler a few years back because of a bad cough but then the doctor said she didn't need it anymore but I might look into it because I can guarantee any bug going around she catches it and can be quite unwell. She always seems to have a cold and ive done everything to avoid it since she's been off school and just as the covid cough was dying down a bit she ends up with a cold. I really feel for her especially today she's so excited for tomorrow but I'm worried it will spoil her day tomorrow so trying to do whatever I can today to help ease it.
