DS 4.5 has woken thismorning with both eyes pink and the right eye keeps getting a blob of yellow green in the corner of the eye.
Does it need to be treated with Chloramphenicol antibiotic eye drops or will it clear up on its own?

We just used to use cooled boiled water and cotton wool. Wipe outside in.

The answer is yes to both questions. Yes it will clear up by itself but as it's a blood of green funk it may well be bacterial in which case it'll clear up more quickly using the drops. I know the pharmacy can dispense for over 2s so they're easy to get hold of!

Rarely does it need antibiotics and actually, it's one of the infections that is massively over treated and is going to lead to serious resistance.

If it doesn't self clear over the next week or so or is painful or sight is affected, seek medical advice. Otherwise, wipe with cool boiled water and cotton wool and don't share towels.
