DD bringing up sick in her mouth constantly

What do you think this could be? Since last night my 8 year old was being sick in her mouth small amounts and then spitting it out into the toilet. It happened around 20 times and I called 111, they told us to go to the out of hours at the hospital which we did. Saw the GP who said it looks viral. She’s absolutely fine in herself and isn’t showing any other signs of a bug? I’ve given her lunch today and she’s started again with the sick in her mouth and having to spit it out. Does this seem like a normal viral infection? I always thought sickness bugs were full on vomiting ect. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey, OP here. So everything settled but now she’s started up with excessive burping. Like loud unexpected burps. Dr gave us gaviscon again. I have no idea what would be causing it though.

Dd had this, but for years. Turned out it was coeliac disease. I’d just thought she’d got into a bad habit.

ACCx · 30/01/2022 19:11

Oh goodness! Was burping a symptom?? X

Hope you get to the bottom of what is causing the symptoms.

I'm in sort of same position, DS has daily stomach ache and occasional food coming up into mouth like every other day. Doc gave gaviscon and omeprazole. DS says this provides no relief. Stool test negative and UTI negative. Paediatrician can't find anything wrong nor can go on feeling tummy so didn't ask for blood tests to be done.
DS still having symptoms. No doc seems to be willing to get to the bottom of this. Even if they said don't worry he will grow out of it, that would have helped but we have just been left with "there is nothing wrong" don't know if this is good enough because I'm still worried!

BigUpAllOfUshereOnMN · 30/01/2022 19:24

nor can gp

ACCx · 30/01/2022 19:32

@BigUpAllOfUshereOnMN oh dear that sounds stressful! We having got the testing route just yet but I imagine it isn’t great. I think if the symptoms carry on then they’d be wanting to do stool test and bloods? Not exactly sure what they’d be testing for though. It makes me majorly worried

See in an adult they’d probably do an endoscopy. 🤷‍♀️ Kids seem to get fobbed off. I took Dd back and forth to the doctor for 7 years with stuff like thjs and was constantly told she’d grow out of it. I dunno, maybe most of them do?
BigUpAllOfUshereOnMN · 30/01/2022 19:45

@ACCx @CovidCorvid it is a stressful time 1% of me thinks docs are missing something here but voice of reason is saying if paediatrician isn't worried and sent us on our way then I shouldn't be worried.
If we only knew for definite that DS would grow out of it in time then that would ease all worry but no one can commit to that understandably. I will set a reminder to come back on MN in 5 years and see if I can help anyone with my hindsight!

ACCx · 30/01/2022 19:54

What kind of things is it you’re worrying about? I don’t think it could be a cause for something very bad but my health anxiety tells me otherwise :( the acid reflux calmed down but now it’s this weird burping it’s so strange

OP posts:
BigUpAllOfUshereOnMN · 30/01/2022 20:20

@ACCx it's just my general health anxiety and the rare cases I've read on the Daily Mail where things were missed despite going to the doctors 10 times.
DS hasn't got any worse so that's reassuring. Has had it for months. Symptoms have stayed the same. Will just have to ride it out unless things change. Will listen to my voice of reason

ACCx · 30/01/2022 20:22

@BigUpAllOfUshereOnMN sorry you also have HA. It is the worst! Let’s hope it’s just one of those things they get as they’re growing up and do just grow out of x

Does she complain of tummy ache/indigestion? H.pylori was my first thought when you mentioned the burping.

BigUpAllOfUshereOnMN · 30/01/2022 21:09

@ACCx thank you Thanks

ACCx · 31/01/2022 06:45

@MooseBeTimeForSnow she occasionally complains of tummy ache but not on a daily basis. Is h.pylori serious?

OP posts:
MooseBeTimeForSnow · 31/01/2022 14:13

It’s easily treatable
