Rotavirus - Help!

I have an almost 3 month old (12 weeks tomorrow) and I took him to see the doctor 2 days ago as he wasn't acting like himself. He's normally so chilled out and happy but he was constantly screaming, off his feeds and resisting his naps. On a good day he could take 45oz (he's been an absolute milk monster from day 1) but for a few days in a row he was taking about 18oz - less then half of his usual daily intake.
The day I took him to the doctor, he had started with the runs. I mentioned this and Doc said it sounded like Rotavirus and to just 'keep an eye on him.' (Like I haven't been doing that already..)
It's now day 3 of really runny poo.
I know there isn't much I can do apart from keep him hydrated (he seems to be doing better with his milk today), and just wait it out but can anyone give me any info on how long this could last?
My doctor isn't really the nicest guy and always makes me feel like I'm wasting his time - I asked him how long I should wait before I'm calling again if he's no better and he literally shrugged his shoulders at me.
If needs be then I will call again and ask for a different doctor but I don't know if I'm worrying unnecessarily - will it just disappear with time on its own?

My little one has rotavirus a few months ago he was 8 months old but it lasted 3 weeks, we were advised to give dyorolite to make sure he didn't get dehydrated and if he wouldn't take his milk to give it via syringe little and often. Hope littleone is feeling better soon x

How is little one now op? Better I hope. Rota virus can take a while to clear. Dd had it as a baby and had the runs for a week and one vomiting spell. Hope he's better soon. 💕
