It looks very red. Is he in pain or have a high temperature? I would get it checked

WinterCarlisle · 04/12/2021 10:32

Do you have an OOO GP service you can contact? I don't think I would want to wait til Monday.

Pieceofpurplesky · 04/12/2021 10:36

You need to get it checked.

Mabelface · 04/12/2021 10:40

That's an infection. He needs seeing today.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 04/12/2021 10:43

The redness is a concern.
Can you ring your local out of hours drs for advice?

Dauphinois · 05/12/2021 08:11

Thanks all. I followed the advice on NHS 111 website which said to seek advice in a day or two if no improvement.

We drew a line around the outline of the redness to see if it was spreading and took his temp which was normal and he feels fine in himself.

This morning it's still visible but fading a bit and less angry looking, and it's not spread behind the outline that we drew yesterday - if anything it's shrunk a bit.

So we'll keep an eye on it and contact the GP tomorrow if we need to.

Thanks for prodding me to investigate it properly though Thanks

Get him seen today. That looks like a spreading infection, mastitis even. please do not put it off or be fobbed off by nhs, I had mastitis when breastfeeding and needed intravenous antibiotics. My breast was red like that.
