Rash

My 5 month old got a rash around 10 days ago, round his neck and mouth. He was chewing and drooling a lot so thought it was probably teething related, didn’t seem to bother him. Two nights ago it massively flared up. The doctor said it’s a ‘non specific rash’ and that babies get weird things. He says it’ll probably just go away but gave me cream incase it’s infected. I have to wait a week then go back if it’s not better. Today it’s still looking really bad and it’s round the back of his neck and high up his cheeks. I don’t think it’s from drool anymore as it’s so bad and too spread. It feels like sandpaper
No fever.
I’ve attached a photo of it on Monday afternoon, then a few hours later how bad it got, and now today. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and whether it went away or was something more?
