4 days of 40 degrees temperature.
She’s been Seen by GP. She said it’s viral.
She’s got a cough and blocked nose too.
But the Temperature just won’t go down completely even with regular calpol and nurofen. Should I book gp again tomorrow ?
I’m getting worried as to why it’s not going down.

Her temperature shouldn't be that high for so long.

Have you tried giving calpol then 2 hours later nurofen?

Honestly, if the GP dismisses it I'd take her over to the hospital. Tbh, if you phoned them now and said she has had a temp of 40 for four days they'd advise you to bring her in.

shakethat · 01/12/2021 02:15

Hope she feels better soon x

shakethat · 01/12/2021 02:17

Sorry noticed you said you used both. I didn't read it properly. I'd probably take her over to the hospital in all honesty. People say not to be dramatic etc but you know your child and you're clearly worried, understandably.

Best to get her checked over x

Thank you all. Yep I felt it’s not right. I’ll be taking her to hospital.

I'm on day 6 with my ds 3 with a temp 40.6 , after 2 hospital visits rushed in a ambulance and one Dr visit yesterday, they told me he's got a ear infection. I'm not awake giving calpol because it's spiked again..push for anti biotics from your doctor

Cucuclown99999 · 01/12/2021 02:36

Oh my goodness. Hope he feels better soon. This is what I’m worried about. Leaving it then finding out it’s an infection.

Op, I got absolutly nothing from the hospital but a "viral" they literally said to me. Ring your Dr they will sort you anti biotics because if you still have a temp day 5 your intitled to them. I got more help from my Dr if I'm honest!
shabbadababa · 01/12/2021 02:39

Also. There was literally 29 kids that came in that night with the exact same thing. High temp over 40, rapid breathing , high pulse. We was sat there from 4pm till 10.30pm. Also I was sat shaking violently due to having tonsillitis which I woke up with the day after my son was poorly! There's alot of this going around not sure what it is though... I'm exhausted from staying up been petrified!

Cucuclown99999 · 01/12/2021 02:55

Oh wow ok.

Yes whatever is going around is horrible.
She had covid last month with just a slight cough.

This has completely wiped her out.

Infections with viruses do make children just as hot and just as miserable as ones with bacteria. It is important to have children reassessed if an illness is dragging on in case there are signs that turn up later, but it's still quite possible that a particularly nasty virus is the cause.and it just needs to be ridden out. There is no benefit or purpose in "pushing" for antibiotics if nobody is finding a bacterial source.

coffeepleeease · 01/12/2021 14:20

How is your little one today? My DD (5) is on day 3 of a fever that's been hitting 40 and I'm debating whether or not to call the GP surgery

shabbadababa · 01/12/2021 23:19

Day 7, my son has now started throwing up alot , diareah too.. very lethargic and sleeping alot , another doc visit today and switch antibiotics due to him having an allergic reaction to amoxacillin. He can't keep calpol down so temps not going down either he's just thrown it all up.

They can prescribe suppositories.
shabbadababa · 01/12/2021 23:26

Is that to go up the back end? If so I really don't think he would let me , he's nearly 4 :'(

Whilst this is true sometimes you do need to push. My son had swine flu, was delirious with fever and very unwell. Saw GP, saw nurse, saw hospital all said viral as nothing obvious. I 'pushed' not for antibiotics but for more thorough investigation and he had silent double pneumonia .

Any update??

HSHorror · 09/12/2021 16:13

Just to check did they rule out mis-c if she had covid recently.?

My dc has a temp 24h now within 2d of flu spray so it's probably that for us. Just hoping ours isnt ear infection
